Symbian has upped the ante in an effort to compete with the likes of Apple and RIM. The Symbian Blog posted the new platform release plan, which schedules software upgrades every six months.
Symbian ^2 is based on the S60 5.1 operating system and should be hardened and on the market by the end of 2009. Symbian ^3 will follow six months later, and we should be seeing that mid 2010. Symbian ^4 is currently in the works and should be right on schedule. Each version will receive updates for 12 months to fix bugs.
