Microsoft App Store

Last month at MWC Microsoft announced its plans for a mobile application store set to debut with Windows Mobile 6.5 at the end of this year.Microsoft declared it will “run a rigorous certification process to ensure that the end user’s experience is optimal, and the device and network resources aren’t used in a malicious way.” Because of this developers will be charged a yearly fee of $99, plus $99 for each application submission. Free applications will be accepted and those who chose to charge for their applications will see 70 percent of the proceeds. That return is only surpassed by RIM who is said to be giving developers 80 percent per app sale. Microsoft plans to start accepting applications this summer.
